About Project
The Thanpuri to Paror Section of National Highway 20 (NH20), located in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh, involves the rehabilitation, upgradation, and strengthening of a vital stretch of highway. The project spans a length of 16.275 kilometers, covering the section from Km 85.135 to Km 100.840 of NH20 (which is now designated as NHI54). The scope of work includes upgrading the road to a 4-lane configuration to enhance traffic flow and safety, making it more suitable for the growing transportation demands of the region. The project is being executed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode and is valued at approximately INR 260.45 Crore, excluding GST.
The purpose of the project is to improve the road infrastructure between Thanpuri and Paror, which is a crucial link in the Pathankot-Mandi corridor, facilitating better connectivity and ease of transportation for both passengers and freight. This upgradation will not only enhance the road’s capacity and reduce travel time but will also improve road safety standards. The project is aligned with the National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) efforts to develop and modernize India’s road infrastructure, thereby contributing to regional economic development. Additionally, the work includes the strengthening of existing road structures to withstand higher traffic loads and climatic conditions prevalent in the hilly terrain.

Our Client’s Challenge
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) faced significant challenges in upgrading the Thanpuri to Paror section of NH20. The major difficulties included the difficult terrain, limited existing infrastructure, and the need to minimize disruption to ongoing traffic during construction. In addition, the project had to adhere to stringent environmental regulations due to the region’s sensitive ecological landscape. Addressing these complexities while maintaining a high standard of safety and efficiency was essential for the success of the project.
Stringent environmental and ecological regulatory compliance.
Need for robust road strengthening to endure heavy traffic loads.
Limited infrastructure for upgrading and widening roads.
Difficult hilly terrain requiring innovative construction techniques.
Our Approach And Solution
To tackle the challenges of hilly terrain, our team conducted detailed surveys and soil investigations to design tailored solutions for road widening and strengthening. Advanced excavation and slope stabilization techniques were employed to prevent landslides and erosion. We utilized modern construction methods for upgrading the road to a 4-lane configuration, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Temporary diversions and efficient traffic management were implemented to minimize disruptions. Environmental considerations were prioritized, with the project adhering to regulatory requirements and preserving local flora and fauna. Regular monitoring ensured compliance and long-term sustainability of the road infrastructure.
